Bob Fickes ~ Finding Your Center

At the very center of our being is our true self and our Buddha Nature. The ocean of consciousness within us is universal and exists inside of all human beings. Discovering this center is the most important discovery we can ever make.
Finding your center means finding the very core of your being. What makes you who you are? What motivates you and moves you? Whatever that is, once you find it you will feel more confident and more powerful. The key is just being your self. Don’t try to be like someone else.
You are unique. There is no one else like you in this entire universe. You were not born like this to learn how to be someone else. You were born this way because there is something inside of you that is very special. Don’t try to think about it. When we think too much, we look in all the wrong places. We look everywhere else and forget to look at our self.

Instead of thinking, try feeling. What is exciting for you? What moves you? Discovering what moves us is the first step to finding our center. Our center is the most basic motivation that we have for our life. A dog doesn’t get up each morning and think about what they have to do today. The dog just wakes up, feels something and starts to do it. Human beings want to think before they do anything. Our life would be so much more satisfying if we put more energy into everything we do. Just that. No thinking. Just enjoying what we do.
No matter what job we have. No matter what we do each day. If we just put more energy into it we would be more satisfied with our life. You are not here to accomplish just one thing. You are here to experience everything to its fullest and discover how to use our energy in everything we do. If you fall down, get up again. Center your self means look inside to see what you want to do and use your energy to do it. That’s it. No magical formula. Just simple honesty and simple feeling. Each day see if you can put more energy into what you are doing than you did yesterday.
Of course, meditation will help you to get more centered. In this case centering is just letting go of all the things you are thinking about and relaxing into just being you, just being quiet and being your self. Any form of meditation will do this. Even for your meditation practice, put your whole heart into it. Meditation is not a job. You don’t have to work at it. Meditation is an opportunity to get centered and start your day with fresh energy and enthusiasm. There is nothing to do and nothing to find. Just sit and let go until you feel peaceful. When you feel peaceful, you have found your center.
