Brad Austen: Climbing the Mountain

Mountains are symbolic in life of overcoming one's challenges and rising to the top and succeeding. We all have different challenges in life to overcome that we have chosen from a spiritual level. As we overcome a challenge, we don't have to address it again, we can move onto bigger and better things. This is also the nature of ascension.

Like a mountain, the journey becomes steeper and more challenging the higher you climb; but the rewards are also greater. When you reach the peak of a mountain, you get to see things from a higher and more expansive perspective. You begin to see life the way God sees things. You see the wisdom in God's plan, and because we are a piece of God, we are the plan. You become the observer in life, not the helpless victim. When you reach the peak, you can take a deep sigh of relief and enjoy the expansive view of the world below.

In life, we have free choice, so we can climb the mountain at the pace we like. There is no judgment from spirit; it does not matter how many lifetimes it takes. After all, it's the journey in life that is important, not so much the destination. We all want and choose different things to experience life as a spirit pretending to be human. The trouble is, we sometimes forget we are a spirit, and think we are simply a human being, but we have only chosen to experience being physical.

There are so many areas of growth that we can focus on in our lives. It would take hundreds of years to develop in all areas. There are our careers, serving our self and others. There are our relationships with our family and friends. And most importantly the relationship we have with oneself and spirit.

Many people view success in life by our status within society and our possessions. We are here to enjoy abundance but also to nurture and develop our spiritual nature. There needs to be a balance between material wealth and success and spiritual enlightenment.

There are so many distractions in the world we live in, therein lies part of the challenge. My experience with spiritual growth hasn't exactly been an easy journey. There have been many pitfalls along the way. You may fall off a cliff and tumble down the mountain. The important thing is to never give up, pick yourself back up and keep on climbing.

Life on earth isn't an easy game to play, but it also offers great learning opportunities in spiritual growth and development. You will be a wiser person having experienced the pitfalls and challenges life throws at you. And when you come to the end of your life journey, everything will make perfect sense and you will celebrate going home, to your true home.
