Bob Fickes ~ Sun Channel, Moon Channel: The Yoga Method for Balancing your Mental and Emotional States


Today the Sun and Moon energy is more balanced. We have gone through a lot in the past two weeks. A lot of karma has been released and you should be feeling more clear now. We give thanks to the universe for helping us through this time of transformation and give thanks that now we are more balanced.
In yoga there are three channels that move up and down the spine. The Moon channel is on the right side. It is cold and white and influences the right nostril. The Moon channel also influences our mental state. We think too much! When the cold Moon channel is open for too long we not only think too much, but we could get a cold.

The Sun channel is on the left side. It is hot and red and influences the left nostril. When the Sun channel is open for too long, we feel emotional and could get a fever.
If we want to change our mental or emotional state, we can lay on our side with the closed nostril up so it drains down to the opposite nostril. Once the nostril that has been closed becomes open again, our condition will change from hot to cold or cold to hot depending on which nostril has been closed. This is an old yoga trick to help our body stay in balance.
The Sushumna is the central channel. It is clear light with no color. When the Sushumna is open, we are balanced between our emotions and our thoughts. Meditation helps us to open the Sushumna and release our mental and emotional karma.
If you are still feeling out of balance, you can lay on your side with the closed nostril up and change the balance of your body and mind. You can do this before your meditation to help your body and mind to come into balance. Meditation is the best way to balance all the channels and achieve more clarity.
