March is an active, dynamic month, highlighted by a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Pisces, the last Uranus/Pluto square and Saturn in Sagittarius making a retrograde station.  Several Mars aspects to the outer planets will both challenge and energize us.  Also, the Spring Equinox arrives on March 20, signaling the beginning of the astrological New Year.  We began this new lunar cycle in mid-February with a new moon in Aquarius, with a focus on expanded awareness and unconventional or innovative approaches.  There will likely be many new beginnings this month that will indicate new trends for the future.

A very harmonious pattern occurs March 3-4 when Venus and Uranus align in Aries and both form a trine to Jupiter in Leo.  This period may bring great opportunities and possible windfalls, especially for those who have set some favorable intentions in motion.  The Jupiter-Uranus trine is the second of three alignments, with the first being last September 25. Perhaps a project was begun at that time that now needs some attention and fine tuning.  We feel a greater sense of optimism now, with the courage to move forward.  The third and last trine will be completed on June 22, 2015.
Venus in square to Pluto on March 4, along with Mars aligned with the South Node in Aries, may present relationship and financial difficulties. The fire trine should help us gain a greater perspective on long-term patterns that need changing.
The Full Moon occurs on March 5 at 15 Virgo. During this time we may become more service-oriented, health conscious, orderly, practical and discriminating.  This is a good period to make constructive changes in one’s health, diet and exercise habits.  The shadow side of Virgo is being overly rigid, judgmental and analytical, while Aquarius suggests being more open to new and innovative perspectives.  A favorable sextile aspect to Pluto should help us gain deeper insights.  The Sabian symbols for these degree areas echo this theme: “A fine lace handkerchief, heirloom from valorous ancestors; the quintessence of deeds well done.” And “An officer instructing his men before a simulated assault under a barrage of live shells; the need to thorough rehearsing before any complex and inherently dangerous social ritual in which power is used or evoked.”
On March 11, Mars aligns with Uranus in Aries and squares Pluto.  This dynamic and volatile alignment is a trigger date for the upcoming Uranus/Pluto square on March 16.  It can bring outer events with a breakdown or breakthrough theme and asks us to make wise choices between freedom and security.  It is best to slow down now and watch out for accidents.  Saturn turning retrograde on March 14 brings a more cautious, structured approach that may lesson some of the volatility.  On March 16, Uranus squares Pluto for the seventh and last time.  This can represent the final shift of perspective that we need to adapt to and appreciate the new and different realities surrounding us.  The reverberations from this aspect series (begun in 2011) will last for several more years.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs on March 20 at 29 Pisces 27.  The Spring Equinox at 0 Aries follows an hour later, making this day especially potent.  Pisces themes bring focus to being emotional, sensitive, intuitive, compassionate and otherworldly.  The shadow side is being deceptive, confused and overly spacy.  The sextile to Chiron facilitates opportunities for healing and receiving support.  This is a South Node Eclipse, which requires releasing the past before any new beginnings can occur.  The fact that this eclipse occurs in the last degree of the last sign also signifies the release theme.  Since it also aligns with the fixed star Scheat, there can be weather-related problems that require being prepared.  Eclipses can be felt for up to six months or more.  The Sabian symbol keynote for this degree is also a Pisces theme: “The power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer.”
April brings a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra.  Blessings to all for a joyous and prosperous Spring.
